New music from Marcel Wave + The Drin

Good day, folks. We've got the pleasure of announcing the debut album from London's Marcel Wave - Lindsay from Grazia plays keys in this group and I had to immediately say yes to the album once it was submitted. It is a treat. The Drin are getting ready to head to the UK/EU next week and have a new single to share, previewing their next great album which will be out this summer. We're almost ready to share an opening date for the record store - it's been a massive undertaking but should have news on that very soon. If you missed last week's update with album announcements from the Ar-Kaics and Vacationhere it is.

Marcel Wave write eulogies for tragic actresses, ancient riverbeds and concrete obscenity. Their inaugural sonic instalment ‘Something Looming’ is part trades club symphony, part itchy serenade, and part wistful lament. As their heady concoction of ‘Meades meets Pat-E-Smith meets Kirklees Borough Council’ gets prepped to be formally baptised on a dank stage near you, Upset the Rhythm and Feel It Records have dutifully stepped in to deliver its songbook to the masses on both sides of the pond.

The Drin forge further into their own captivating world of sound on "Tigers Cage", the first taste of their fourth album, 'Elude the Torch'. Since 2021, the Cincinnati group has released one strikingly original album per year, crawling closer to the aether with a driving, reverberated rhythm. The Drin's current six piece lineup is at a new height - loose, yet focused and commanding. Deep layers of saxophone, synthesizer, percussion, and strings stir across "Tigers Cage" while D McCartney's nebulous verbiage further paints the dystopian landscape. Look for the Drin on tour across Europe this April, followed by the early Summer release of 'Elude the Torch'.
